Five Lamps Films exhibits at QUAD 9th May-20th June

Five Lamps Films have dug deep into its archive to bring you just some of the gems we've had over the years as part of an exhibition launching at QUAD. As part of the Future Focus Exhibition (9th May- 20th June), Five Lamps Films were kindly invited to showcase a selection of films as installations around QUAD, Derby.

As well as exhibiting some audience favourites, we saw it as an opportunity to show off some of our first contributions, and it was a great chance to exhibit submitted films originally intended as installations too.

Approximately 20 films will be on show, and other contributors to the exhibition include Rebekka Bojanowski, Nick Buxton, Neil Dixon, Kirsty Michelle Hayes and Andrew Martyn Sugars.

'All That Glitters' wraps

All That Glitters - Directed by Owen Tooth
A film by Toothpix in association with Five Lamps Films

Following his victory in Five Lamps Film's first 24 hour film challenge, director Owen Tooth has gone on to make All That Glitters- a dark take on take on the secret realms often discovered in childrens' fiction. Parallels between Lewis Carol's rabbit hole and C. S. Lewis' wardrobe into Narnia end when the magical world discovered in this film reveals anything but fluffy white rabbits.

All That Glitters stars Nottingham based actress Jo Irvine and child actress Nancy Boo Orchis-Evans who, at just four years old, has a CV as long as your arm- appearing in Doctors (BBC1), Hollyoaks (Channel 4) and dozens of films.

The short film is part-funded by the competition's sponsor The University of Derby. Both the University and fellow sponsors QUAD were kind enough to lend facilities, but the high production value was largely achieved by a dedicated cast and crew who called in every last favour they had.

Owen has enjoyed much success as a filmmaker recently. Since winning FIVE/24 in November 2009, Owen's previous short 'Conceptual' has been added on the DVD/Blu-Ray release of 'Paranormal Activity'.

All That Glitters is due to be finished this summer, hopefully in time for a private screening before the launch of next FIVE/24, 24 Hour Film Challenge, which is due to be held on Saturday 28th August 2010. First prize is 'Skillset' endorsed training on the RED ONE Camera and the chance to make a second film using it.

Details on the film's progress will be posted here as they develop.
